Charge-discharge Inspection Equipment for Secondary Batteries

What is Charge-discharge Inspection Equipment?

Charge-discharge inspection (test) is a necessary step in the manufacturing process of secondary batteries such as lithium-ion batteries (rechargeable batteries). In this inspection, batteries are repeatedly charged and discharged at a fixed current value, voltage value and temperature. This is one of the most important steps because the quality of lithium-ion batteries will be determined by this. This requires accurate test features and an excellent safety as well as effective energy efficiency. We, SoftEnergy Controls Inc., manufacture advanced charge-discharge inspection equipment based on our original electric control technology.

Product Features

The assembling process of lithium-ion batteries involves several key steps, including placing electrodes, applying electrolyte on insulators and packaging. Even after this assembling process, the batteries don’t function properly yet. In order to accumulate energy as batteries, they need to undergo a chemical change by repeating charge and discharge on the conditions specified by the manufacturers such as current value, voltage value and ambient temperature. With this chemical change, the lithium-ion batteries can finally accumulate high energy and function properly. The charge-discharge inspection equipment is responsible for this last and very important step.

Product Summary

Thanks to our newly-developed AC regeneration power supply which mounts a bidirectional PFC, our charge-discharge inspection equipment (Formation equipment) has become more accurate and the respond speed of this equipment has become faster than ever. In addition, this equipment is twice as powerful as conventional charge-discharge inspection equipment, yet costs only half. This equipment can minimize its power consumption by supplying the power during discharge to peripheral units or devices. Reducing its heat generation makes the size of the equipment smaller as well as extends its life. As a result, this equipment contributes to increase the amount of battery production per volume.
